As you said on other articles/posts, what the company values (with $$$ formatted as promos and comp) many times is not aligned with what the company needs to get stuff done.

Re the compensation bit: 8 years ago or so someone told me that. My response was "one day I'll be as jaded as you are. Not today."

But I think he doesn't *really* believe it, anymore than you do. Apropos having an odd idea of fun ;) We try to find joy in what we do, when we can't - we try something else. Work is not 100% type 1 fun. But if you can get a good handle on type 2 fun, that would probably carry you :) especially if you're having your type 2 fun with good people around you.
