The nice part of the post-career is to look back at all the stuff done and being able to pick the one thing one loves to do without having to worry whether it will pay for the bills because that part is taken care of.

It's very liberating, stopping to pretend to care about most of the corporate BS and focusing on what matters the most (to oneself).

isn't this a tradition christianity? "In Holland, in my generation, it is a tradition to call the friends of your parents “aunt” and “uncle”, despite the absence of a blood relation" a friend of mine told me they usually call them "god mother" and "god father", the concept was new to me

Two sightly different things: Jos is talking about close friends of your parents who get labelled as honorary aunts and uncles: I have several "aunts" and "uncles" who aren't relatives.

But godparents are different in Christianity: these are the people given responsibility to help bring up their godchild in the faith - sometimes that perspective is useful.

Oh I see the difference now, thank you very much for the clarifications!

I did not realise that there exists such a concept of post-career. Very interesting, thanks.

I wish there were a part-time post-career in tech. With a young family at home and still interest in building stuff, but without the desire or need to continue working 50-60 (or even 40) hours a week, that would be a great match. Let me know if you ever figure that part out ;)
